Jarboe Kicked off OU football team
Talk about it in The Crimson CornerA freestyle rap video by OU freshman Joshua Jarboe was released on the Internet Tuesday afternoon. In the video, Jarboe's obscenity-laced rap talks about guns and shooting people in the head. After plenty of debate on Internet message boards and talk radio, a conclusion to the situation has been rendered. Joshua Jarboe is no longer a member of the OU football program.
Jarboe's time at Oklahoma didn't last long
"We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and this final decision is in the best interest of our program" Stoops said in a statement just released by OU. "We outlined for Josh the expectations we had for him when he arrived and, unfortunately, those expectations have not been met. Josh needs to learn from this experience. We hope he can move forward in a positive manner."Jarboe was arrested on felony gun charges March 6th, just a month after signing with Oklahoma out of Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga.Jarboe ended up pleading guilty to two felony charges relating to the stolen handgun. The charges were reduced to misdemeanors under Georgia's First Time Offenders Act.The reduction of charges opened up the door for Jarboe to enroll at The University of Oklahoma.At the time of Jarboe's admission to OU, Bob Stoops issued a statement concerning his troubled recruit."He became involved in a situation at his school during his senior year that certainly has caused us concern. At the same time, we have personal knowledge of Josh through our recruiting contact with him and from personal references from his school and individuals of authority in his life. We feel that he will be a positive contributor to our campus," Stoops said at the time.Stoops was also quite clear at the time of his statement that no other incidents from Jarboe would be tolerated."We have already stressed to him that his citizenship is of the utmost importance. He understands that anything less than exemplary behavior will not be tolerated."On Friday morning, The Oklahoman printed a story with quotes from Bob Stoops concerning the Jarboe rap video.In the video, Jarboe rapped about guns and shooting people.

The video was also laced with obscenities and crude references to women.In the only public comment Stoops made concerning the Jarboe Internet video, the Oklahoma head coach was defensive of the cries to dismiss Jarboe from the team."Kick a guy off the team for what he says? We're starting to talk about everything kids say and do," Stoops told the Oklahoman late last night. "Now we're in people's homes, in their private spaces."

In America, Kanye West's Glow in the Dark tour has been one of the most talked-up spectacles of the year, with critics hailing it as “Kanye's Götterdämmerung” and an “awesome sci-fi themed hip hopera”. As darkness fell on the hottest day of the year, about 25,000 revellers at the eighth Global Gathering dance festival prepared to witness for the first time in Britain this wondrous event.
For whatever reason West had not brought the full production. True, there were enough lights to illuminate several nearby villages, and the stage was wreathed in smoke, but the promised full orchestra, dancers and “intergalactic special effects” failed to materialise. Apart from planting a carbon footprint of Godzilla-like proportions on the English countryside, the show displayed little in the way of theatrical or narrative invention.
What we did get was a performance of messianic fervour from West, a man who has turned the concept of self-belief into a personal religion. “Thank you for joining me tonight on my quest to become the number one artist in the world,” he said, before launching into the rap of Touch the Sky, a verbose barrage of wordplay on a typically aspirational theme. On a raised platform behind him a pair of percussionists flailed about on timpani and a pair of huge kodo drums, while a small group of musicians and singers managed to sound like an orchestral big band thanks to the skilful application of sampling and synthesiser technology.
Combining old hits such as Gold Digger and All Falls Down with material from his current album, Graduation, West paced the four corners of the stage in a ceaseless flurry of words and motion. Can't Tell Me Nothing, one of his most powerful declamations, found him dreaming that he could buy his way into heaven. By the end of the show it looked as if he was on his way, as he stood, arms raised, bathed in a dazzling beam of white light from behind. Obama Campaign Condemns Ludacris Dedication Song

Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama has condemned an endorsement song from Ludacris, in which the Atlanta MC criticizes rivals Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
The song “Politics: Obama Is Here” contains celebratory bars on Obama’s success (“The first is destined and it’s meant to be”), but turns venomous when Obama’s rivals are addressed.
Ludacris references the bitter Democratic primary battle by stating “Hillary hated on you/So that b**ch is irrelevant.”
Regarding Republican nominee John McCain, the rapper rhymes:
“McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed/ Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped/ Ball up all of his speeches and I throw ‘em like candy wrap.”
Through his campaign team, Senator Obama released a statement condemning the song as offensive and typical of much of Hip-Hop’s current lyrical content.

CHICAGO - The warning came too late for Barack Obama's adviser: Don't walk and text at the same time.
Obama aide Valerie Jarrett fell off a Chicago curb several weeks ago while her thumbs were flying on her Blackberry.
"I didn't see the sidewalk and I twisted my ankle," Jarrett said. "It was a nice wake-up call for me to be a lot more careful in the future, because I clearly wasn't paying attention and I should have."
Jarrett got off easy and didn't need medical attention.
But in an alert issued this week, the American College of Emergency Physicians warns of the danger of more serious accidents involving oblivious texters. The ER doctors cite rising reports from doctors around the country of injuries involving text-messaging pedestrians, bicyclists, Rollerbladers, even motorists.
Most involve scrapes, cuts and sprains from texters who walked into lampposts or walls or tripped over curbs.

Could Hip Hop Really Be Dead?
Does Hip Hop Need A Revival?
I was recently scanning some articles when I came across one pertaining to the top 20 albums ever. As I browsed the list I noticed that bands such as The Beatles and Nirvana made the cut, but no hip hop artist were on there. Though I was happy to see Stevie Wonder come in at number 1 and Michael Jackson at number 3, I began to ponder the thought could hip hop really be dead. I mean with all the talented artist over the ages, was their music not enough to be thought of as the best of the best. I then read over the article and found out that the columnist who came up with this list came up with parameters and then used a formula in order to rank the albums. ["Album Staying Power Value + Sales Value + Critical Rating Value + Grammy Award Value"]. This formula is set up as to be free of personal opinion so that doesnt get in the way of the rank. I however find this to be a problem. Some great albums might not sell as well as others..so there an album loses points because in some way personal opinion or should I say America's opinion does count. Look at Nas album..great great album great content great message just something great to jam..didnt sell as many copies as Wayne or Kanye, but does that mean it shouldnt be counted as one of the best albums? NO, exactly the point no matter how hard you try to figure up a list of "best albums" in some way "Americas opinion" is factored in no matter how biased or unbiased. But i believe that if hip hop is dead then it must be revived because their are to many albums out there with good content but just not enough marketability. What do ya'll think the top 20 aLbuMs are??

Finals MVP Paul Pierce, who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter. The money translation, via RedsArmy: "Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world? Pierce: I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself." Surprisingly, Spurs fans seem more upset by this than actual Lakers fans. (Update: OK, Lakers Nation is pretty upset, too.)
